Christy Turlington Burns -
CARE advocate for maternal health
and contributing editor for Marie Claire Magazine
Christy Turlington Burns has successfully created a diverse and multi-talented career as an entrepreneur, author, role model and spokesperson in the fashion, business and humanitarian spheres. She has graced magazine covers from Vogue to Time. Today she is CARE's Advocate for Maternal Health and has traveled with the organization to El Salvador, Peru and Bangladesh to help empower expectant mothers with better access to health services. She has a long history of partnering with charitable organizations, such as the Salvadoran American Humanitarian Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, RED and the ONE Campaign.
Ms. Turlington-Burns graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree in Comparative Religion and Eastern Philosophy from New York University. She is a Public Health graduate student at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and is currently directing a feature length documentary film profiling Maternal Health success stories around the world. Ms. Turlington-Burns resides in New York City with her husband and two children.
